This was a nice write up of a pivotal moment in gaming history, and what were for me the two greatest games of my gaming life. The sense of magic and wonder these two games ignited in my imagination as a child is beyond anything. I used to carry around printout in the window of my wallet of the opening scene of MM with Link on Epona and the skullkid nearby in anticipation of the game’s release.

It’s refreshing to see someone talk about these titles without pecking them to death with petty gripes!

Luckily when I restarted the game, it told me I done the volcano stage and just had to win the race. I guess they fixed it!

You use the Punch Coins as separate currency if you don’t want to spend the increasing amounts of cards it takes to upgrade each individual bar for power and HP. You just switch it them when you’re upgrading at the shop. It actually cuts down on grinding cards.

Have to drive into the middle of the volcano, that’s what triggered it for me (it’s currently an ice lake it appears, since it’s Winter season).

I was confused about the picture outside of the car, as I had never done it before (and didn't even know it was possible), so I didn't know how to do it. A quick Google search was all that was needed, but perhaps a longer explanation might help some people. Well, since I'm writing this, I'll go ahead and include the directions below:

To stand outside of the vehicle for a selfie with your character, the vehicle first needs to be at a complete stop AND the wheels need to be still BEFORE entering photo mode.
Then, go to Effects Mode (press "Y" on an Xbox controller, or "Y" on the PC Keyboard - at least for my setup).
Scroll down to "Character" who will most likely be in the "Driver's Seat." Now scroll through the options ("Centre Front," "Right Front," etc.).
If your vehicle meets the requirements that I named at the beginning, as you switch your character position, he will move to whatever is selected.
Now all you need to do is take the photo, and you are done.

Having started gaming in the apple II era, I found this game to be like a blast from the past, even a bit endearing. The good old days where you spent as much time cursing the control mechanics as playing the game. I HAD to upgrade from the demo for .99, I didn't mind throwing them a bone for the effort. I think the price is right. I'm hoping there is a way to SAVE in the full version. I would definitely modify the controls and allow for changing up the pad buttons if I were designing it. That seems like an easy mod . Just upgraded today, so looking forward to trying out the new weapons and ranged attack!

A massive problem with the way Gameloft are selling this DLC as a consumable and not a durable, meaning families would have to fork out for the cost of the DLC per account on one console.

If you buy the base game, it is shared. No consistency and it’s all about corporate greed.

Ok. Makes me wonder how much time the reviewer spent with it. I’m 40 hours in, and just now taking full advantage of the hunters guide to track down components for Uber Cameron weapons. The combat is not mediocre. And ignoring the fun of flying your ikrans with a friend in co op is a major oversight.

It may be an open world Ubi game, but it’s more, and has more to offer, than Far Cry in space. It deserves an 8/10 or 4/5. But the reasons you give for knocking it are meh.

A very poorly made game, many beginners, when you play on higher amounts suddenly shortens your time, and when you win, it doesn’t irritate, it adds points,But when you lose, your score goes down immediately, everything is robotic and dictates how they want and the effect on the ball and everything, badly done waste of time and they also want money:))) a bad joke, I don’t say it anymore Full of Asians, don’t respect the ball, play your ball or If you’re in the final ball, don’t play it, these are silly rules Not for 8 pool, too bad

It’s the same as movie award shows, they focus on a few games and the winners never match reality, it’s a giant waste of time since it’s basically a fake popularity contest in which you are told who is popular. Only a fanboy of the unbearable diva Hideo Kojima (a male being a diva… smfh) would enjoy something as pointless as a video games award show.

I’m glad you reviewed this! My daughter(10) is getting to be quite a gamer and loves Rainbow High. When we saw this on display at GameStop, we were definitely curious if it would be something simple and basic or if it was perhaps a hidden gem. She wasn’t optimistic and thought it would be pretty basic. Your review was exactly what I needed as I don’t think anyone else is really talking about this game. We’re definitely looking at other options for Christmas. Thanks!
